Sounds like your cPanel passwords are out of sync.  Please reset inside cPanel while making sure the 'Allow MySQL Password Change' box is checked.  Sometimes this will need to be done more than once before a full sync is achieved.  I've found that there is a higher success rate when letting cPanel generate the password.

Allow MySQL Password Change --> where is it?

It is in the same box where you would enter your old and new passwords.  It should be checked by default,  but you'll want to be sure.
