Expired Domain Auctions

All domains registered have an expiration date, which will vary based on the length of the registration. If the domain is not renewed by the set expiration date, it will proceed through the expiration process by entering the renewal grace period. During this period (typically of 40 days), the domain is still renewable. After the renewal grace period ends, the redemption period begins, allowing the user to attempt to renew the domain for a steeper price, which varies depending on the TLD. During this period, the domain may be unretrievable, so it's best to renew domains before or during the renewal grace period. When domains expire, they go through the expiration process (mentioned in the previous question). Once a domain has completed that process and it isn't renewed, re-claimed during the redemption period, or registered during an expired domain auction, the domain will become available for general registration once again through traditional domain searches (approximately 5 days after the redemption period ends).

Domains on Dynadot that are not renewed by users will eventually enter an auctioning phase, where other Dynadot users can place bids on that expired domain to attempt to become the new domain owner after the domain auction has ended. For more detailed information, visit our help page.
