why can't i see my web page

Hey guys,

Just bought some basic hosting. This is some basic html that i've put into the index.html

<h1><i>This is some text</i></h1>

<body>
<html>

so i'm assuming i should see some some text but i can't see anything. Can someone help me, i'm new to all this?
