Simple domain webhosting question
5/4/2010 16:40
Ok so I have the advanced webhosting package. I own a domain and have the webhosting linked to it. I want to have another domain not subdomain can I use that webhosting for that domain? Or do I need to buy another web hosting package for that? Hope that makes sense.

Thanks,

Ben

Hi,

If you want to set up another domain under the hosting for your main domain try the following.

1) Log into cPanel.
2) Click on Addon domains under the 'Domains' section.
3) you will come to a page that asks for a new domain name, document root, etc.
4) Fill in all necessary details.
5) Click on add domain.

To create the addon domains you will need the following info;
New domain name (eg. domain.com)
Subdomain/Ftp Username: (eg. domainuser)
Document Root: (eg. /public_htmal/domain
Password: (Make sure it is secure)

Please also note that dynadot may not have addon domains enabled. If they do not then this will not work

Hope that helped, if not post back here or simply try google searching terms like 'addon domains cpanel' and you will surely get a few matches.

With our Advanced hosting, you can host a minimum of 5 additional domain names.

The steps provided by matt_07 are correct with one addition.  Before trying to add the domain in CPanel, you want to make sure that the domain is set to use "Advanced Hosting:"

My domain is registered at Dynadot and I also use your Email plan. How do I configure my domain to my Email package?

To use your Email plan, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Dynadot account.
  2. Select "My Domains" from the left-side menu bar and then click "Manage Domains" in the drop-down.
  3. Check the box next to your domain name(s) and click on the "Action" button.
  4. Choose "Email Settings" from the "Action" list.
  5. Select "Dynadot Email Hosting" from the list of choices (we no longer sell new Advanced Hosting plans).
  6. Press the "Save Email Settings" button to save your changes.
  7. You should now see "Dynadot Email Hosting" listed alongside your domain on the "Manage Domains" in your Dynadot account.

Please be aware that it might take some time for your name server changes to propagate.
