E-mail.... disc usage

Can someone please explain e-mail disc usage. When my disc space is used up does that mean it is no longer possible to use e-mail until some space is released?

This is true on any server where you have a limited quota of space. The solutions are simple:
1) get rid of the space holding tons of emails & attachments
(can be done with gzip and offline storage or just delete)
2) get rid of files and directories
(same as #1)
3) buy more diskspace.
(get out your checkbook)
